the eve of the 17 day diet.

yep - i just killed a pint of Ben & Jerry's Mint Chocolate Chunk Ice Cream. this is exactly the type of dietary lifestyle i have been living - and it's the exact reason i'm going to take a leap (alongside my lovable wife) into the 17 day diet.

this isn't my first attempt to lose weight. as a matter of fact, i have tried weight watchers, atkins, south beach, eating healthier, skipping meals, etc. some of those methods have worked in the past - others not so well. fact is, when i am at least conscious of my eating habits (and expanding size) i can do what i need to in order to make it turn around, at least a little.

the big difference is that this is the first time since being married with 2 kids that i have attempted to get back on the healthy living horse. i'm not blaming my wife and kids for my own eating habits. it's my fault and i own up to it. it isn't my family that makes me eat my lunch after i have eaten breakfast while at work, then follow that up by ordering out for lunch because i feel like stuffing my face again. then grabbing a late night snack after the kids go to bed (occasionally behind my wifes back) before we retire. this is of course after eating a very satisfying dinner with the family only a handful of hours prior.

my food choices in the last 3 years have been horrible. not the ones i make at home per se - it's the ones i make when i'm at work or on the road with the band. it's like my greedy side has no control or instead feels that it can just do what it wants when i'm out.

i have no issue being a fat guy. i just don't wanna be dead before my time should come. i have a wife who i am more than a little crazy about - and two amazing little daughters who i care more about than anything! yet, for some reason i feel that it's completely acceptable to thrown down 3-4 breakfast burrito's from the golden arches 2-3 times a week (easily).

it's getting under control now.

that pint of ice cream (though a stupid decision) is symbolic in a way - a death row inmate's final meal request of sorts.

so - this blog is a way for me to be accountable. i plan on sending my diet details, meals, goals, plateaus all via SMS.

it's completely for me. i have no desire to have anyone else keep tabs at this time.

wish me luck!
